I just wanted to make a quick post here about a tool I bought and downloaded last night. It's called Keyword Convert and it's a software gizmo that does an absolutely magic job at increasing your keyword lists.
I'm just learning how to use it and I'll post a full review and hopefully some tutorials on it soon. For now let me give you a quick run down of why it will have such a huge impact on your keyword lists.
What does KeywordConvert do? It generates and builds up keyword lists for you - but it does it in a really interesting and unique sort of way.
It takes 3 sets of keywords you give it and combines them in every possible order there is. From a few words it can create some extensive keyword lists, save you a lot of time, and come up with variations you'd never think of on your own.
Let me give you an example. Imagine you're building up a keyword list for a website about televisions. We might have this keyphrase in our list:
cheap lcd television
There's three words in this keyphrase. And if think hard, we could come up with some other ways to say 'cheap'. This would increase our keyword list something like this:
cheap lcd television
budget lcd television
reduced lcd television
And so on. (There's lots of different ways to say 'cheap'!) So now I've got three keywords in my keyword list. What if we then include the variation of tv? The keyword list will double in size to:
cheap lcd television
budget lcd television
reduced lcd television
cheap lcd tv
budget lcd tv
reduced lcd tv
While this is a great way to expand a keyword list, and it's something you absolutely should do, it's very time consuming. Let me show you Keyword Convert in action.
1) I start the software up and go to the Combine Words / Phrases window:
2) Next, I enter all the words in the first column that I can think of that mean the same as the word 'cheap'.
3) In the middle column I enter my second word. In this case I am only going to enter one word here - lcd.
4) In the third window I'm going to type in all the variations for the word 'television'. I'm going to include the plurals here too.
5) Now I click on the generate lists button.
6) The software now comes up with as many possible combinations of the words I've entered.
Have a guess how many possible combinations of those words there are? My keyword list, for those few seconds worth of work is up to 150! You can check it out here.
